I recently built a new computer and am having the issue where the darn thing resets itself after awhile, now it various on the reboot, so at first I thought it was possible cpu overheating but not sure. Everything is a fresh install and I not sure what to do, I have dual fans going and a PCI case cooler. The other day I had a BSOD. My father in-law rebooted before I could write down the error message. Let me be clear on a few things the computer usually only reboots itself if it has been running awhile, the auto system reboot option has been turned off.I was going to add a dab of quick silver to the cpu and fan and add another case fan but didn't want to go that route if its hardware.

My Specs:
TUL TRS780-M1 Motherboard
AMD Quad core Phenom 9600 BE (2.3Ghz)
4Ghz DDR2 Memory (2 X 2GB)
1TB SATA hard drive
Liteon DVD DVD-r/rw internal drive
62-1 internal memory reader
PCI case cooler fan
Windows XP Professional Service pack 3

Hi there. wave

There's so many possibilities for these kind of errors, software and hardware! Hopefully a useful error message will have been saved in Windows events. To access this, in Windows XP go:

Start -> Control Panel -> Performance and Maintenance -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management: Expand the Event Viewer tree.

Then, look for red exclamation marks that happened around the time of the crash, double click the event, click copy, then paste the report into a post here. Hopefully that'll give clues where to start!

The event log keep saying there was an issue with the device in yada yada yada ,I "Think" I fixed it.. I moved my hard drive from the space it was at to another lower location. The previous location was right in front (mashed up against) the SATA connections and my thoughts is it was pulling them lose. Keep in mind that board is a mATX (micro) so its tight in the case. I had the thing running most of the night without any issues... I will continue to monitor this situation. Thank you for you help reply

Hmm, the SATA connections could have been the fault. Maybe simply unseating and reseating the drive connections might have "fixed" the issue if they were loose. On the other hand your over-heating suspicions might have been correct, as the position of the drive may have prevented good air flow around the case. Either way, fingers crossed that you've solved the problem - good luck! smile
