The Browser Hijacker: CustomSearchPlus.com Virus

 

The CustomSearchPlus.com is regarded as an unwanted browser extension, it is compatible with the popular internet browsers, namely, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. This browser hijacker is developed by BeeStripe LLC, claiming improvement on the internet browsing by the user by giving them the advance search results. CustomSearchPlus.com may look like authentic and useful on its functionality, it has the capability to redirect the user to unwanted web sites. This browser hijacker applies a deceiving marketing technique known as bundling to install such internet browser even without the consent of the user. The method of building is a technique used to spread applications online along with the software, at the same time, the users frequently install CustomSearch.com unknowingly as they download this free software coming from the free downloadable sites.

 

The most visited downloadable website that have freewares are soft32.com, softonic.com, download.com are websites that use download programs that gives away free services. Usually, the downloadable programs you can see here are download promotion for widgets, toolbars and other browser extension alike. Hence, these advertised browser plug-ins are declared genuine and free of virus, it usually results multiple adware or even malware infections. It can result to unlimited online advertisements, redirects and privacy concerns.
Other browser hijackers that works like CustomSearchplus.com are SearchShock. Yahoo Community SmartBar, Astromenda and more.

 

These are considered PUPs that generate interfering online advertisement and altering settings of internet browsers. While CustomSearchPlus.com is not directly passing any virus or malware, its ability to redirect the users to those websites without their consent and tracking the users browsing activity online which include the IP address, OS, cookies, browser type, urls website visiting and so on, are private information that should not be tampered at. Changing the settings of your search engine, homepage and the url settings for a new tabs, which are assigned to CustomSearchPlus.com with no consent of the users, are enough grounds to take this browser hijacker down and completely remove them from your computer’s system.

 

Removing CustomSearchPlus.com Virus, the Browser Hijacker:

For the Windows 7
• Go and click the Start (the logo of Window at the bottom left cornet of your screen), select the Control Panel. Then locate the “Program”, then click the “Uninstall a Program”.

For the Window XP
• Go and click the Start, select the Settings and then click the Control Panel. Proceed and click on the Add or Remove Programs.

For the Windows 8
• At the lower left side of the screen, locate and right-click. Then in the Quick Access Menu, choose Control Panel. Another window will open and select the “Uninstall a “Program”.

To the window of installing the program, locate the program CustomSearchPlus.com, then choose and click the Uninstall or Remove.

Also include those programs potentially unwanted programs aside the CustomeSearchPluscom.

 

Removal of CustomeSearchPlus.com Virus from Internet Explorer

For Add-ons:
• Locate and click the gear icon (you can see this at the top right of the IE).
• Choose the Manage Add-ons.
• Find those recently installed browser extensions (CS+Home&Search)
• Choose these entries and then click the Remove.

For the Home page:
• Locate and click the gear icon (top right of IE).
• Choose Internet Options.
• Once a window opened, remove the hxxp://www.customsearchplus.com and then type the preferred domain, this will open each time you launch IE.

For the Search Engine:
• Locate and click the gear icon (top right of IE).
• Choose Manage Add-ons.
• To the opened window, choose the Search Providers, set this to Google, Bing or any one you preferred as your search engine.
• However, remove the CustomeSearchPlus.com.

 

Removal of CustomSearchPlus.com Virus from Mozilla Firefox:

For Add-ons:
• Locate and click the Firefox Menu Choose the Manage Add-ons.
• Click the Extension, here you can find the recently installed plug-ins and then remove customSearchPlus.com.

For the Home page:
• Locate and click the menu of Firefox and reset it by selecting Options.
• Once a window opened, remove the hxxp://www.customsearchplus.com and then type the preferred domain, this will open each time you launch Mozilla Firefox.

For the Search Engine:
• Go to the URL address bar and type about.config, then press Enter.
• Click the “I’ll be careful, I promise!”.
• Type CustomSearchPlus.com on the search filter (top).
• Then right-click the found preferences and choose “Reset” to restore the default values.
