Troubleshooting When Your Gameplay is Interrupted

Online games are very fun, but they are not without their issues. One of the biggest frustrations was today, July 15th on GOG. The gaming platform unveiled some new features, but unfortunately caused some bugs that disrupted gameplay for its users.

There are plenty of other instances when your online game might freeze up. This could be due to an unexpected glitch, virus or simply because too many people are on the platform at once. If you’re playing a game and your computer freezes or experiences network interruptions, it can be highly frustrating.

The only advantage to these setbacks is that you’re prepared. Not in the sense that you can anticipate the interruptions, but rather that you know how to deal with it when it occurs.

Read on to learn how you can troubleshoot when your computer or phone experiences interruptions in the middle of a game. Please note, you don’t have to try them all, just the ones that seem relevant for your device.

Updating The Drivers

Outdated or missing device drivers can stop your game from running. If your game frequently freezes while you play, you need to update the drivers, such as your chipset drivers and graphics card, as it may be the cause. You can update your drivers automatically and manually.

Manually consists of going to the manufacturer’s website and finding the latest driver. Choose the driver that matches your device’s Windows and model number.

Alternatively, you can install Driver Easy and do it automatically.

Clearing Temp Files

If you have temp files stored on your device, you may want to remove them as they could be slowing it down. Perhaps you’ve downloaded tools to play poker or some app software months ago and they’ve left temporary files; it’s time for them to go as they’ve served their purpose. All they’re doing is cluttering the system’s hard drive.

To check this, invoke a Run box ?type in ‘temp’, and press Enter ? select all the files in the temp folder and delete them ? relaunch your game to see if the issue has been resolved? if not, try the next option.

Do a Memory Check

A faulty memory card is a common reason for computers freezing during gameplay. To see if it is the cause, you should run a memory check.

Expert online websites suggest that when your Run box pops up, type in mdsched.exe and press Enter. You can choose between restarting and checking immediately or checking for problems later (the next time you use your device). When your computer restarts, it’ll display the progress of the check and whether the memory card is the problem or not.

System File Checker

System file corruption may be the cause of interruptions during gameplay. Run System File Checker to see if there are any missing or corrupted files. If there are, the SFC/ scannow command will repair them.

Monitor Viruses and Malware

It may be viruses or other malware that’s causing your device to freeze during your game. To check if that’s the problem, you should do a virus scan with your antivirus programme. If you don’t have one, you should download one for your device, it’s typically inexpensive, and they also offer free trials.

Antivirus software allows you to enjoy online privacy and protects you from digital threats. It also helps to scan for, detect and delete viruses on your device.

In Conclusion

There’s nothing worse than when you’re trying to enjoy a game but can’t. The tips mentioned above can help you troubleshoot when your game is lagging, interrupted or frozen. There’s no need to try all of them, just the one that may apply to you and your device.
