Must-Have Software and Apps Every Remote Worker Should Have on Their PC in 2023?

In the last few years, the future of work has changed permanently. In a survey conducted near the end of 2020, 72% of people were fully remote, with an extra 21% working at least part of the time remotely. Even with concerns about the pandemic beginning to relax, it’s predicted that more businesses will adopt a fully remote or hybrid work model when it comes to conducting business in the future.

In light of this, tools that help remote workers are more important now than ever. Thankfully, we’re living during the greatest period in technological history to be able to carry out a productive work-from-home experience successfully.

Remote Work Statistics

There are many remote work tools to choose from, and finding the ones that are best can be challenging. According to remote work surveys, 91% of remote workers use video conferencing software, 61% use instant messaging apps, and around 62% of workers utilize project management software of some type.

While these are the top must-have tools every remote worker should have on their PC, there are still a few other resources that can make working from home more simple and constructive.  Read further to learn more about these helpful apps and software services that will make your remote work more organized and render more beneficial results.

Interactive Presentation Software

An interactive presentation has objects such as videos, images, hotspots, pop-ups, and animations embedded in it that stimulate and engage your audience.  So, whether you are giving a presentation to a client or your management team from home – having software for interactive presentation success is crucial for making your message across loud and clear.

Additionally, interactive presentation software allows you to merge texts, images, and videos into one presentation. Interactive presentations are brilliant tools for turning data into informatively presented visuals that are more compelling and persuasive than old-fashion slideshows or PDFs.

Get a Web-Based Office Suite

As office suites have been moving away from installed software packages, moguls such as MS Office and Google have been focusing on web-based office apps to cater to remote workers.  In fact, web-based office suites have been booming over the last decade.  The reason for this is that documents are easy to share, create and collaborate using a web-based system than the antiquated method of emailing a doc.  Web-based tools such as word documents and spreadsheets can be edited by other team members who also work remotely and make changes in real-time so that everyone with access can see changes immediately.

Cloud Storage

A cloud storage app can be critical for remote collaboration, and it doesn’t have to involve complications. Simply create a file, save it to a shared folder, and your team or clients will automatically see the latest updates whenever they access that folder. Additionally, cloud storage helps keep your at-home work computer less bogged down, as you save memory when using cloud storage.

Remote Desktop Apps

Remote desktop apps work by connecting your computer with another at a different location. This allows you to work on a distant computer as if sitting right at your client’s keyboard. That means you might be in the US, but you can access and work on a client’s computer in Australia.  It’s clear that remote desktop apps are perfect for remote workers who need access to the files and information that reside on a long-distant client or customer’s computer.

Tools for Mental and Creative Enhancement

Working remotely can create a lot of benefits, but one significant downside is that brainstorming sessions are only possible with in-person interactions. That’s where mind-mapping tools are great for virtual collaborative brainstorming and project planning. In fact, mind maps can help you get an overview of everything happening in your life. Remote workers who use mind-mapping tools report that they experience more productivity and better efficiency.

In terms of helping you stay focused, some apps can help you with that. If you’re like many remote workers, you may find yourself checking email repeatedly or visiting time-sucking sites that aren’t pertinent to work but are a huge distraction. If this sounds familiar, several great browser extensions can both limit specific websites and programs and help you limit how much time you spend on your computer.

In conclusion, we hope these suggestions for must-have software and apps for every remote worker’s PC in 2023 have proved helpful.  At the end of the day, the more organized you are, the more effective and productive you will be – even when working at home.
