Google Chrome Shortcuts

Google Chrome is a very popular Web browser. It is my browser of choice because it is fast and secure. It is also very flexible and comes with many safe plugins for you to install to expand its usefulness. But, perhaps one of the best things about Google Chrome is all of the shortcuts it has that allow you to navigate quicker and get around easier. You can do all of your surfing from your keyboard without even using your mouse. Below is some of the best keyboard shortcuts you will find for Google Chrome.

Shortcut Keys Description
ALT + Home Open Home Page
Backspace or ALT + Left Arrow Back a Page
Alt + Right Arrow Forward a Page
F5 Refresh Current Page
F11 Display the current website in full screen mode
Esc Stop page or download from loading
Ctrl + (- or +) Zoom in or out of page
Ctrl + 1-8 Press Ctrl plus the number to go to the corresponding tab
Ctrl + 9 Switch to Last Tab
Ctrl + Enter Quickly completes an address
Ctrl + Shift + Del Open the Clear Data Window to clear private data
Ctrl + D Add a bookmark for the page that is open
Ctrl +Shift + O Open the Bookmark manager
Ctrl + J Display the download window
Ctrl +K or Ctrl + E Move the cursor to the address bar
Ctrl + N Open new browser window
Ctrl + Shift + N Open new window in incognito mode
Ctrl + P Print current page
Ctrl + T Opens new tab
Ctrl + F4 or Ctrl + W Closes current tab
Ctrl + Shift + T Undo the close of a window
Ctrl + Tab Alternates through each of the tabs
Spacebar Moves down a page
Shift + Spacebar Moves up a page
Alt + Down Arrow Displays all the text entered in a text box and all options in a drop down menu
Drag a link to a tab Opens the link in new tab

 

As you can see there are many shortcuts that you can use while surfing with Chrome. So many people just think they can use their keyboard to type in URLS or fill in forms on web pages. They believe they have to use the mouse to do all the navigation. But, the fact is, you can use your keyboard to do just about everything inside Google Chrome. If you can make a habit of using these shortcuts you will be surprised how fast you can get around without even lifting your hands off the keyboard.
