Windows Custom Safety

Windows Custom Safety

Windows Custom Safety is another delightful fake Safety client infection. The idea behind infections of this nature is to trick the user into purchasing the software to remove the fake infections it purports to have found. It does this by making it difficult for users to run any programs to remove the infection and interfering with the computer’s ability to access the internet. In doing so, it can also corrupt your browser’s search settings.

How Did I get infected with Windows Custom Safety?

Generally speaking infections of this nature get into your computer through what’s known as a drive-by-download. Essentially, malicious code is inserted into a legitimate website which forces a download and install of the infection in the background.

How Much Damage is Windows Custom Safety Doing?

The only real problem this infection causes are the pop-ups you’ll see all over your screen as soon as it gets into the computer, making it difficult to remove the infection or use the computer. These shouldn’t cause any lasting damage beyond that to your state of mind, and once the infection is out and you’ve run a full virus scan, they shouldn’t make a repeat appearance.

Windows Custom Safety Registry Removal Procedures

We don’t recommend any inexperienced users make any changes to the Windows registry with this infection. The registry is an especially sensitive area of the operating system where it is far too easy to make a mistake. Furthermore, this infection doesn’t cause any damage to the registry that shouldn’t be automatically repairable with a good antivirus program. You might also want to employ a registry repair utility such as PC Heath Advisor, which you can download here: PC Health Advisor Here to clean out the registry and scan for other malware.
