Smart pajamas for seniors, one of the most curious gadgets at CES 2020

Smart pajamas for seniors, one of the most curious gadgets at CES 2020

There are a number of great advances in the smart gadget market. One of the newest is smart pajamas for seniors.
Artificial intelligence is changing our lives in countless ways. One of the biggest changes we are all facing is the growing number of smart gadgets on the market. It is important to be aware of the new smart gadgets that you can use to be more comfortable or solve some of the biggest problems that we are dealing with.

A growing number of smart gadgets have been designed to help us sleep better. You may find this hard to believe, considering a lot of digital technology developments have made sleeping more difficult than ever. You have probably heard about smartphones wreaking havoc on our sleep cycles, because the UV light disrupts our circadian rhythms.

However, a lot of smart gadgets can do the opposite. They can help your body reach its natural equilibrium, which enables you to get a better night’s sleep. This is great news, since the American Sleep Association estimates that up to 70 million people suffer from sleep disorders.

If you are struggling to get a good night’s sleep, you should be aware of the benefits of using smart gadgets that promote sleep.

Senior Pajamas – the Newest Smart Gadget to Promote Sleep

One undeniable reality that sleep is one of life’s greatest pleasures. It is also very important to all of us. And there are more and more devices that are designed with the aim of helping us to make that rest not only pleasant but also comforting.

You can get a better sense on the importance of this technology from reading articles reviewing the following:

  • Wearables are smartwatches, wireless headphones, smart bands or smart glasses.
  • Wearable devices: what they are and why you need one

Wearables that monitor sleep are our daily bread, but you can always go a little further: forget about smartwatches or activity wristbands, the smart pajamas have arrived and are here to give you a complete overview of your sleeping patterns.

The Tokyo-based company Xenoma has launched these ‘smart pajamas’, called the ‘e-skin Sleep & Lounge collection’, at the CES 2020, the industry’s leading technology trade show in Las Vegas.

Designed for the elderly, these pajamas have a classic style, with a ‘grandfather’ look: two rather loose pieces, with soft fabric and several rather serious colors – dark blue with white stripes, pistachio green, green or blue.

But in addition to pajamas, the company has developed another product designed for “being at home”: sportive and “comfy”, like a tracksuit, with a sweatshirt with a kangaroo pocket.

The track suit detects if the person wearing it has tripped and fallen and activates an alarm that notifies a previously selected family member of the incident.

The pajamas monitor heart rate, breathing and vital signs while the wearer is sleeping and also provide information on sleep patterns. The tracksuit also does this and tracks the activity level and encourages you to walk if it is low.

Thanks to Artificial Intelligence, the data thrown up by the pajamas can be used to make your smart home adapt: depending on how the user is feeling, the room environment – for example, the temperature – can be adjusted.

The company that has designed these pajamas specializes in the development of smart clothes and has other products designed for sports, biomechanics or 3D motion capture, among others.

On their website, they have a video where you can learn a little more about the operation of the curious gadget ‘e-skin Sleep & Lounge collection’.
