What Equipment Do You Need for Twitch and YouTube Streaming?

Streaming YouTube and Twitch video games is becoming more popular and the number of players continues to multiply. While Twitch is obviously still the strong leader in the industry, it is now possible to transition to other platforms that offer more or less interest.

TWITCH

Twitch is the undisputed leader in the world of streaming. Twitch.tv is positioned as the platform of reference if you want to transmit your games to a large audience. Launched in 2011, the site has experienced staggering growth for several years and shows impressive statistics. Today, Twitch actually has more than 100 million users per month, more than 2 new million users and thousands of partner accounts.

Based on its success, the platform was acquired by Amazon in August 2014, for a whopping $970 million. However, the site retains some independence from the e-commerce giant while offering some bonuses to members of the Amazon Prime platform.

YOUTUBE Gaming

If it’s been a few years before YouTube’s response to Twitch appears, the web giant has a growing success with players. YouTube Gaming has an interface relatively close to that of classic YouTube, but opts for slightly darker tones that games require.

The platform features a mix of live streams and more classic videos, usually related to the games in question. In a few clicks, we go from a live playback of Let’s Play through a soundtrack or a compilation of the best moments of the game in progress. For viewers, this is obviously a great advantage over Twitch, as all these videos are grouped into one platform.

From the home page, visitors can access the most popular broadcasts, but also find a selection of recommended videos (based on past readings) and current trends. It is then possible to sort the broadcasts by games or by chains, in short, of the classic.

To broadcast live games on YouTube Gaming, we notice that an application is available on PS4 and Android. With respect to the Xbox One or the Switch, necessarily for now you will necessarily go through a capture box or a capture card. On the PC side, YouTube Gaming is compatible with most encoding programs. We also appreciate the fact that it is very easy to set up your transmission, YouTube automatically manages the resolution scale and bit rate to provide a live transmission always smooth, regardless of the connection speed of visitors.

What PC configuration to broadcast on Twitch?

Playing the latest AAA titles comfortably while streaming live is not an easy task. To benefit from a smooth experience for both you and your viewers, a relatively muscular configuration is a must. Your machine will be able to handle your favourite games on one side and encode the different transmissions on the other – without heating up your CPU!

It’s also good to note that today there are several solutions to configure the flow. If most PC players opt for a gaming and streaming machine, some players will be able to move towards a two-machine solution. The first one will be only for the game, while the second one will handle the encoding part (managed by the CPU or by a box or acquisition card).

Configuration of PC Streaming from a single pc

When you stream your games on Twitch or YouTube Gaming, the encoding of your various streams is largely handled by your processor. Therefore, it is a masterpiece to build a gaming / streaming oriented configuration, and we recommend you move towards a machine capable of managing multitasking in the best way.
