Here are Some of the Many Ways you Can Speed up your Internet when Working From Home

Slow computers are an underdiscussed crisis in the developed world. According to one study, 66% of Americans report that having a slow computer is one of their biggest frustrations. The average person wastes an average of 16 minutes a day waiting for their computer to load. Other polls suggest that a third of these people would spend this time exercising, which would make up for the health problems associated with living a sedentary lifestyle. Another quarter of them would try to catch up on their sleep.

The sad reality is that slow computers cause problems for the average person. The good news is that there are ways to improve the issue while working from home.

Taking the Right Steps to Make Your Computer Run More Quickly

With the coronavirus lockdown happening right now, it would seem that millions of people are now working from home. Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics suggests that 29% of Americans can work from home. Most of them are being required to work remotely during the crisis. If you want to make sure that you are not losing out when it comes to your internet connection, then you can find out everything you need to know, right here.

Avoid using Data

With everyone being stuck at home right now, so many people are making video calls by using their data during the day. It’s highly recommended that you use apps such as Facetime or even Skype if you can. Skype recently reported that 40 million people use their software every day. When you use apps like this, you need to make sure that you do everything you can to connect to the Wi-Fi option on your phone.

Use an Ethernet

If you are accessing in-demand games or big programs then you need to use an ethernet cable if possible. If you are just accessing an online casino then you might find that your speeds hold up without needing one, so ultimately it comes down to the size of game or program that you are accessing and how many other people are trying to log on as well.

Move your Wi-Fi Router

Cordless phones, halogen lamps, TVs and even speakers can all impact your computer connection. This is especially the case if they are quite close to your router. If you want to avoid this then you need to do everything you can to keep your router away from anything electrical. When you do this, you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to maintain your connection without having to worry about a thing. You also need to make sure that you keep your router on a shelf or even a table if possible.

Don’t use your Microwave

Did you know that microwave ovens can actually affect your Wi-Fi speed? The main reason for this is because they operate on the same frequency. If you want to help yourself here, then you need to try and turn off your microwave when you are not using it. This is especially the case if you plan on making video calls as well. If you do this then you can easily prevent call disruption.

Disconnect Devices

If you have a lot of devices connected to your internet, then you will soon find that this can affect your Wi-Fi far more than you realise. There is an internet address that you can search to find out which devices are connected to your network and when you do this, you will soon be able to see everything you need and without having to worry about a thing. Of course, if you are not using the devices, then you may think that they are not sapping your internet connection, but this is not the case at all. In fact, it will be affecting you far more than you realise so you need to keep this in mind as much as possible.
