PlayRenfe: how to connect to WiFi on Renfe trains and on which trains it is available

We are going to explain how to connect to WiFi on Renfe trains, so you can have a stable connection when traveling by train. No matter how many gigabytes or speed you have, with a moving train there will always be times when you run out of coverage. To solve this, Renfe has a WiFi service inside the train called PlayRenfe.

In this article we will try to explain how this free service works, from how to connect to which trains it is available, because we can already tell you that it is not in all of them. With this method, your trips will be better as you will be able to advance work or simply entertain yourself watching whatever you want while you are on the train.

Before you start, you should know that this free service is designed for basic functions, such as email, messaging or social networks. This WiFi has blocked streaming and downloading pages, so no YouTube or Twitch, or downloading series or movies. In addition, it is only available on high-speed AVE trains, so for the moment you will not be able to use it on commuter or regional trains.

You will also want to know about the benefits of using IoT solutions.

IoT in transportation and logistics makes trips and transportation more enjoyable. And in this article we will try to explain how this free service works, from how to connect to which trains it is available, because we can already tell you that it is not in all of them. With this method, your trips will be better as you will be able to advance work or simply entertain yourself watching whatever you want while you are on the train.

How to connect to PlayRenfe

Connecting to PlayRenfe is simple, as it is like connecting to any other WiFi within reach of your mobile. What you have to do is enter the WiFi connections section of your mobile and connect to PlayRenfe, which will be available on those trains that have the service.

When you connect, the mobile will automatically open its web browser. This is like hotel WiFi, you have to complete the process through the browser before you can connect. Here, you will first see an information page where you have to click on the Access PlayRenfe option that will come after all the explanation.

This will take you to another page, where you have to choose the method by which you want to connect. There are three different methods, and you can choose the one that is easiest for you. This is what you have available:

With my +Renfe Card. If you are a member of the free +Renfe service, you can use its application or credentials to connect to the WiFi.
With my ticket number. If you do not have a membership card, you can connect simply with the ticket number of your journey.
With a promotional code. On some international routes, you will be given a promotional code to connect.

Depending on the method you choose, you may be asked for different information to complete your identification. It may be just your +Renfe card details, or your ID or passport in addition to the code or ticket number. You may also be asked for your phone number to confirm your identity with a confirmation message.

Once you finish the process and click on Sign In, you will be able to surf the Internet. PlayRenfe also has some exclusive content, such as movie premieres and LaLigaTV, although in order to use it you will have to download its official app, available on Google Play for Android, and on the App Store for iOS.
