TeamViewer Remote Access Software

team viewer remote access softwareBeing able to get to your computer on the road is a great benefit to many people. these days people have multiple devices like tablets, laptops and smart phones. But they would like to be able to access important files on a computer while they are away at the office or on a trip somewhere. Remote access software can help facilitate this by providing a connection to any computer as long as there is an Internet connection available.   

One of the most popular remote access software applications available today is TeamViewer. TeamViewer is one of the best remote PC applications available today and consistently gets high praises from users. It is known to have a great many features and it is a snap to install and configure. Many other applications can get complicated with firewall changes and other tweaks that have to be done. This isn’t the case with TeamViewer. There is no need to worry about complicated changes to routers or switches.

How Does TeamViewer Remote Access Work?

TeamViewer is similar to other remote access software in that it needs software installed on two different computers in order to make the connection. You will need software installed on the computer you want to connect to. This is often referred to as the server or host. And, you will need software installed on the computer you are connecting from which is called the client or the guest.

TeamViewer is pretty simple to set up and configure. There are no special router configurations necessary to make it work. Therefore, most people should be able to get it running in just a few minutes.

Host Side of TeamViewer

TeamViewer is flexible because you can connect to computers running multiple operating systems. You can connect to computers running Microsoft Windows, Mac or Linux.

There are three installation options for a TeamViewer host. There is a version called TeamViewere QuickSupport that requires no installation. This is good for computers that you need to connect to one time. There is also a TeamViewer Host options that is good for computers you intend on connecting to frequently. Lastly, there is a full installation options. This is good if you are looking for something simple and you are not sure what to do.

Client Side of TeamViewer

The client is the computer you want to connect from. Again, there are a few different options you can choose from.

TeamViewer  has applications for computers running Windows, Mac and Linux. Therefore, you are not limited on what kind of computer are you are connecting from. You can connect to a Mac computer if you are using a Windows computer, for example. TeamViewer even has mobile apps. You can connect to a computer from an iPhone, iPad, Android Device or Windows mobile device.

Alternatively, you can use a web browser to connect to a computer running the TeamViewer host. This means you would not have to install anything on a computer in order to connect to a remote computer.

TeamViewer is a great option for anyone looking for a free option for remote access. It has many other useful features like file transfers, sharing of application windows ( no need to share whole desktop), white board and many others. You can download the latest version here
