Remote Access Software

Remote control PCHave you ever been in a position where you needed to access something on your PC. Or, maybe you thought it would be nice if you could use your PC while away from it. Well, it is possible with remote desktop software. This software allows you to remotely control your PC over the Internet if it is configured correctly. You can control the mouse and keyboard of your computer as though you were sitting in front of it.

Think about the flexibility this offers you and the number of situations it can be useful. You can use it to remotely support someone who is having trouble using their computer. You can use it to access files, photos and other important data. You can use it to be more mobile by carrying a light tablet or laptop with you and keeping the horsepower at home.

How Does Remote Access Software Work?

There are typically two pieces to the remote desktop equation. The host software and the client software.

The host software, or server, is installed on the PC that you want to connect to. When it is installed, the software will listen for computers attempting to connect to is using the client software. The client software is installed on the computer that you want to connect from.

How Secure is Remote Access Software?

As a whole, remote desktop software is secure. It is true that by installing the software on the host, you could be opening a hole into your computer. But, if you use good password practices, then you should be ok. But, just be aware that you are opening that hole.

How Easy is Remote Access Software To Set Up?

Most applications are very easy to set up. Most of them use a installation wizard you are probably familiar with. Many times you can just go through the default settings to get going in no time. Some software does offer more advanced features and you should investigate those settings if you feel comfortable. Many of these advanced settings deal with security and user experience when connected remotely.

Remote access software is a very useful application you should consider if you need to use your computer while away. But, there is no point in spending a fortune on it.
