How to block Ads and Popups on Google Chrome

Nothing is more annoying then constant ads and pop ups.  This guide will cover how to quickly stops ads from showing inside Chrome.

First Off:  If you are getting a bunch more ads then normal from visiting websites that normally do not have so many ads or as many pops then you are mostly likely infected with either a virus, malware or Adware.  In most cases it’s a combination of the 3.

If this sound like you I recommend you download the free Adwcleaner client – https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/.

I would also recommend un-installing Chrome and re-installing Chrome after you run a scan with the above 100% free client.  Then follow the rest of this guide to permanently block pops and ads on Google Chrome.

Watch this Video we did covering installing 2 extensions into Chrome

Install AdBlock –  This extension will block all ads from websites.  While this may sound great for many there are downsides.  For instance when doing a Google search you will not have relevant ads anymore that could of helped you when it comes to purchases or finding certain kinds of products and information.  For many this is fine but for others like me I want to see the ads as long as I’m not getting hammered to death.

Select the Dialog box on the top right of Chrome.  This is those 3 horizontal lines also referred to as the hamburger button. > Select Setting > a New Windows will open.  On the left column select Extensions

Scroll down to the very bottom of that page and select “Get More Extensions”

Do a Search for “adblocker” – Select the AdBlock extension from getadblock.com

Install the Extension.

Install Poper Blocker – This ad-on is great at stopping popups.  It’s very useful if you visit sites that love to show pops on you.  I highly recommend you install this extension as it blocks annoying ads which is always nice.  If you are getting pops on websites you normally do not have them on then most likely you have some adware on your computer and I would suggest you take action and run an antivirus scan to remove any threats installed on the computer.

To install Poper Blocker simply follow the directions above except you are doing a search for “poper” instead of “adblocker”.

Once both of these extensions are installed you will no longer see advertisements online.  You can still become infected with threats so you still need to take caution.  I would suggest if you think you are infected to run a full virus scan with Spyhunter.  It’s linked below in the button.
