PC Security Guardian

PC Security Guardian is a malware program.  Programs like this are made to trick and scare users into purchasing.  This particular malware program is not really new.  It is a direct copy of several old malware programs.  These scammers simply change the name of the program in an effort to avoid detection by anti-virus clients.

To Remove PC Security Guardian users need to first stop the main executable.  Once this is done they will be able to remove the executable causing PC Security Guardian to run.

To stop this threat we recommend you browse to the C:UsersUSER NAMEAppDataLocal folder and sort the folders by date.  You should be able to then pick out a folder that is several random characters in length.  The clue will be the data you got infected.  It should match the date on the folder.

Now that you have located the folder just open it and re-name the .exe program.  You can go ahead and re-name everything in the folder if you like.  Now re-boot your computer and next time you log in this program should not be running.  You can browse to the above folder path again and delete the files.

You can not delete a file while it is running.  This is why we have you re-name the file first.  If you are having troubles re-naming the file you may want to simply boot into safe mode and try to remove the files there.

Once you are done you should now run a full anti-virus scan to ensure you are not infected with anything else.  We recommend you run a scan with Stopzilla.  This anti-spyware and anti-virus client is very good at removing rouge threats like PC Security Guardian.
