The Ins and Outs of Dedicated Web Hosting

If you’re new to the world of web hosting, you’ve likely been bombarded with options regarding how to best present your site. Perhaps you already know a thing or two about hosting and you’re currently looking to move from shared to dedicated web hosting. If so, you’re making a step toward complete independence in terms of your server capabilities. Let’s take a look at the ins and outs of dedicated web hosting.

What exactly is Dedicated Web Hosting?

Put simply, vps hosting is the term for when you are using a server that is specifically targeted to your site. Generally, people might use other hosting options wherein a server works for their site as well as the sites of many other people. Dedicated hosting, on the other hand, uses a server that is dedicated to your site and thus you have control over all the aspects of your site and its setup.

What are the Big Differences?

Naturally, the most striking difference you’ll see in dedicated hosting is the fact that now you have your own server that works exclusively for your site. But this freedom comes with a price. Many people prefer wordpress hosting because it is more affordable than dedicated hosting. Make sure that your site is profitable enough to warrant this extra expenditure. Also, remember that you might have to take care of more bugs and problems that would previously have been handled by someone else on a shared host. It helps to brush up on or learn more about technical issues before you take the leap. Since this server is yours for all intents and purposes, it behooves you to know a bit more about setting up and maintenance.

Flexibility in Design

Still, many hosting companies offer tech help and services that will likely be able to help you with anything you can’t handle yourself. This is how it should be, though, considering the fact that you’ll be paying more for a dedicated server anyway. Also, you’ll be given the freedom to add or remove software that is tailored to the specific needs of your site. You can make your page look unique and special, something that was much more difficult to pull off with shared hosting and its cookie-cutter website sensibilities. This is often one of the biggest reasons for why people make the move from shared to dedicated hosting.
