Definition of bitrate
Bit rate - bitrate
Definition: Bit rate is a measurement of the number of bits that pass through a given point in a given measure of time. Usually expressed in bits-per-second, 1kbit/s would express 1000 bits per second. An expression of bandwidth, a higher bit rate allows more throughput per second therefore faster transfer of data. Bitrate is applied in reference to data communications and to video and audio files.
