Volume
Definition: A logical division of data, comprising of a number of files. In the context of hard disk drives, a volume is formatted by using a file system - such as FAT or NTFS - and has a drive letter assigned to it. A single hard disk can have multiple volumes and, unlike partitions, volumes can span multiple disks. Under the ISO 9660 standard, a "volume" refers to a single CD-ROM disc.
