I have just bought this prnter. It is excellent.

Direct reading from memory card with or without the PC being turned on.

5760DPI borderless printing. Brilliant tones and quality.

Direct printing onto CDR/DVDR.

Excellent. Just for your info.

Yes it still works. Epson ink is very expensive. Have a set of capatables ready and waiting.

Thanks for your ........ interest.

Dont know how this forum works, but can you help me with this problem.

I have a EPSON STYLUS PHOTO R 300 about 3 years old. now im getting this message:
Service required. Parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life. See your printer's documentation for details.

Is there any way to solve this or do I just go and buy a new printer

cheers Dougie Durie Alucard666

Coincidentally, a friend asked me about something similar not so long ago. We didn't come to any conclusion and I think he binned the printer and bought a new one. But your question aroused my curiosity and I did a bit of 'googling' with the following results:

1. There seems to be some sort of waste ink/cartidge counter in the R300. Apparently it can be reset by holding down three buttons for 10 secs. More details here

2. There's a freeware "service utility" for Epson printers here that looks like it can be used to play around with all sorts of settings.

DISCLAIMER: use any of this information at your own risk! I found this info on the web after minimal searching and I have no idea if it is correct. And even if it is, any utility to tweak internal firmware settings sounds like a potentially dangerous tool to me! Still, if the alternative is to scrap the printer . . . . Good Luck

Thank you very much, I was just about to scrap my Epson R300 when I read your thread. I had contacted Epson and they advised me to go to a computer shop and they wanted to charge me £25 + the cost of a repair. Once again thank you Flyfisher.

Hi, Can someone please help.

I have the Epson R300 and I have lost my CD for installing everything. I have downloaded the drivers etc from the web and the printer is working perfectly. I am only missing one part. The CD printing software. Can someone who has this printer possibly ZIP the content of the CD and email it to me. Kris@kris-stuart.co.uk this would be a massive help.
