I have a Microstar motherboard PT 2200 (MS 6741) with two 256MB DIMM's fitted. I want to increase the memory and have bought two 1 GB DIMM's as I understand the board will take a maximum of 2 GB memory. The DIMM's are 400 mhz, 2.5 voltage, Non ECC, Non parity and unbuffered.

When the computer starts to boot it gets so far but before the Windows screen appears it just stops. I should appreciate any guidance on compability problems etc.

Hi Geoff,
Was the same problem arising before changing the RAM. Please check out your initial RAM and try to buy of similar kind, because if you motherboard supports DDR1 ram but if you use DDR2 then system doesn't support it, if the same problem persist even after using initial RAM then you system OS might got currupted, try reinstalling it.

Regards
Mike
