Hello to everyone!

I want to ask which php IDEs do people use. What can you recommend me as the best one? I've heard that Zend is a leader, but never tried it because of its high price. Is there something similar, but cheapper?

Hi Irene. I've used Zend in the past and found it clunky. I've also used nuSphere's PHP IDE, and thought it was better but still not ideal. In the end, I use Dreamweaver, and test simply through the browser on my local server with PHP's inbuilt error reporting configured to maximum feedback.

However, I think Zend's high level error reporting tools are excellent in a live server environment - especially when dealing with multiple domains. But obviously that's not for development...! \:\)

Hi,Irene!

I can suggest to try Codelobster php edition - mix of Zend and MS Visual Studio features. Syntax highlighting, an Intelligent outocomplete, easy in use step by step debugger, ability to jump to function or class declaration are basic ones.
By the way it's the smallest php IDE I've ever tried (only 5 mb)
